Aretha Franklin Has RESPECT For Her Doctors After Successful Surgery

Aretha Franklin was in good spirits and resting comfortably after successful surgery today in Detroit, according to her cousin Brenda Corbett.

The exact nature of the disease or when Franklin was held medical procedure was not disclosed. But in November, a publicist announced that Franklin Franklin, 68, had canceled all shows through May.

Corbett said the medical procedure was carried out around 5 pm today in a Detroit hospital, but she declined to say which.

Corbett also said he did not know how long it will remain hospitalized Franklin.

In a statement released today to the Associated Press, the Queen of Soul says: "God is always in control. I had a wonderful doctors and nurses who have been blessed for all the prayers of the city and country."

Franklin did not say what was being treated.

Wednesday afternoon, a prayer vigil for Franklin was held against the Spirit of Detroit in downtown Detroit. It was organized by the office of Detroit Councilwoman JoAnn Watson and Fannie Tyler, an assistant Aretha Franklin, who sometimes works for Watson.

"I just wanted to send prayers of healing for her and let her know of the city of Detroit is to pray for her," Watson said today. "We are honored to love and respect and that victory in the ongoing medical procedure today.

Watson said it was the election of Franklin prayer vigil was held Wednesday at the Spirit of Detroit.

"I believe in prayer and know that our good friend Aretha Franklin believes in prayer," said Watson. "Our queen of soul is a strong woman of faith."

Thanksgiving Day, hundreds of people thronged the Detroit New Bethel Baptist Church - the church once led by Franklin's father, Reverend CL Franklin - for a gospel festival and thanksgiving organized with the permission of Aretha Franklin.

Franklin had hoped to attend the event but did not feel well enough to participate, "said Tyler.

However, almost all who spoke or sang Franklin praised, prayed for his recovery or sung in tribute to her.
